Faking It Friday @ Waterworld
Urban Car Wash
Sarek
teaches Quinn how to wash a car. Quinn was psyched about the hose.
Apparently, and I never stopped to think about it, this is a very
suburban thing to do. You need a hose, curb, parking, ideally a
driveway, but at the very least, enough street space to clear the threat
of becoming a hit and run victim. Washing cars was a core chore of my
childhood. I would have been made to wash the neighbors' cars if I had
asked for money for chores! So, I don't pay my kids for chores.
They're the reason my car is gross; there's no reward, app, bit counts,
or incentive for that. They won't be getting rewards to keep things
running and tidy as adults. Future roommates, you're welcome. #earnyourkeep. #entropy
Lemon Zest
My daughter, smelling like lemon zest and homemade pie crust, just
hugged me with abandon and ran back into the kitchen. She is now poking
curiously at egg yolks. San Francisco is fogged in, but she is
shirtless next to the warm oven awaiting the (literal) fruits of her
labor. She is without a care in the world. I love her. May we have a
world left for little people like her to save. #eightyearsold. #thefutureisbakinginmykitchen #lemonpie
