Frenemies Forever (Miraloma, 3rd grade soccer)

Typical frenemies, these preschool besties ignore each other at school (Nola and Sid now go to Miraloma together) but love each other up everywhere else.  Sidney Kitchingham...she'll go pro soccer.  Mark my words.  Nola will sing the national anthem at one of her World Soccer games.  Frenemies forever.

Flag Boy (Gift Table Guy)

Wish someone would have thought of it earlier....Sarek got to call lines at Nola's end of season soccer game.  He was tickled pink (blue and gold).  Last week, he was in tears from boredom, but this week it was all smiles and swagger.  Note to self for next year!

Fort Ross Spring 2017 (SFFS 4th grade)

Sarek got the chance of a lifetime to spend the night at Fort Ross along the Mendocino Coast of California.  He was assigned a character and had to STAY in character the whole field trip, live like his character, and undergo the hardships of his character.  Photos are from Signe Kurian.

Miraloma's End of Season Soccer Party

Nola is now at Miraloma Elementary, a highly regarded public elementary school in SF.  We were biting out nails about the unanticipated move from SFFS to SFUSD but the transition has been smooth for both kids.  However, Nola has found herself loving soccer, or any sport, for the first time in her life, in large part due to the caliber and warmth of the soccer team which has adopted her at Miraloma.  Miraloma's soccer community is huge, fierce, and fun.  Nola played on both Fierce Foxes and the Emerald Dragons and got to experience great quality soccer.  She went from not wanting to sweat ("there's water in my pits!") to scoring regularly with the Fierce Foxes.   One of the last games of the year was followed by an over the top end of season party.  The girls got individual inspirational quotes, trophies, and a spread of food that rivaled any restaurant buffet.

Nola and Deena went on a field trip to the Asian art museum today.  Her first time on a yellow school bus.

Dosa Day

Who makes dosas from scratch during a heat wave? This girl. Great fermentation weather. But, damn, it heats up the kitchen. #sorrygrandma. #gonesoft

Monterey Bay, Baby.

Day trip to Monterey Bay Area. Kids' first trip. Apocalyptic weather--warm rain at times--but indulged the kids in a scuba lesson. The jellies never get old.  We went with Suzanne and Quinn Pullen.  Monterey Bay Aquarium was the bomb.  We sang Happy Birthday to Brett near the Otter Tank and the kids got their first scuba diving lesson.  Cool beans!
