Christmas 2020

Christmas, like most everything this year, occurred during the pandemic. Somehow that made it more special, although we don't usually travel for this holiday. Nola made Santa merengue snowmen instead of cookies this year. Deena worked the night shift but got to celebrate all the good stuff. We got matching holiday pajamas for the first time but found out on Christmas Eve that Nola's set had been excluded. Ever teh generous soul, Sarek offered to give his set to his little sister. Brett, a boogie boarding convert during COVID, got ocean related loot. Santa stuffed Deena's stocking with liquor stash, just what working moms need when everyone is home 24-7 with remote school and work. Nola's favorite present from Santa was Just Dance 2021. Sarek scored an iPad from Grandma Tarah and learned that with grandparents, "Ask and you shall receive" is alive and well.

Grandma Tarah's visit to SF

Grandma Tarah came by in December to help us out as we both search for work and meaning. She cooked, cleaned, imparted wisdom, and babysat smiling all the while. She got to enjoy all her grandkids - missing Kaitlin who she sees in college back east- out in SF and make a connection with Nola. Nola now has a face to put with her new words Gramma Tahah.

Sarek's first sledding expereince, with city hall in the background. The city hosted a family winter wonderland in Civic Center plaza.

Christmas Day 2009

We have been shacked up in a house oevrlooking Pismo Beach for our Christmas vacation. House swap rocks! We are 2 blocks from pristine beach and about 4 long strides away from the house hot tub if you don't count the rolling out of bed part. We spent the morning near the tree and then packed up for Montana de Oro and sand dune melee. The weather has been all clear blue skies and warm sun, totally inappropriate for Christmas. I have such fond memories of this part of the Central Coast. Banu, her friend Milis, and my sister, Deepa, are here, too. As the only one even remotely from a Christian background, Brett thought it funny to be celebrating with a motley crew of casual Muslims and Hindus. Brett and I had a rare chance to watch cable TV last night & got caught up in the movie, "Dirty Dancing." I'm so glad that Baby gets to do the Lift at the end. Ha!
