Halloween 2020 🎃

Hi, it's Nola! Even though it was during a pandemic, Halloween was still pretty fun. Sarek and I both went to small-group masked hangouts. Sarek went to Pacifica, as usual, to see his all-time bestie, Dexter. I went to my friend, Calla's, backyard with my friends, Zoe and Margaret, to have a masked/candy hangout. We played on the aerial silk and played with the dogs. Sarek was a unicorn (he just got a unicorn onesie from Target) and I was a purple (of course) M&M. I did my hair and makeup by myself, which I was very proud of. But it still took a while. (In the picture where I'm sitting in the silk, you can see I'm eating M&M's. Margaret said it was cannibalism. It was.)

Halloween Highlights 2009

Halloween weekend started off with a parade through the neighborhood on Friday and ended with a frenzy of trick or treating at Belvedere St. in Cole Valley. Three to four city blocks are cordoned off to traffic. It's total chaos, cuteness, and sugar high all rolled into one! I never would have thought that Halloween is more fun as a parent than it was as a young adult.

Dancing Cookie Monster

AKA "How Cookie Monster Got His Groove Back" Who knew Cookie Monster had moves?? The house hosting the music has a tradition of placing people dancing in animal costumes in the front windows.

Hell-o-ween

Jaretta babysat while we stepped out on the town.

The party was a fundraiser for SF General Hospital's Mental Health Emergency Department.  The theme was Dante's Inferno.  We tried to stay true to the theme...Deena channeled the sin "Vanity" with a peacock headdress and makeup.  Brett was a beguiling Devil.  Check out the pencil mustache and bead embroidery.   Thanks, Jaretta, for babysitting.  And the last minute peacock art!

This is one of the "highlights" from the party, which was at an Italian farmhouse mansion right in the city, the kind of surreal place that diaromas and dreams are made of.  You can't see the house from the road.  And it's easy to think that maybe you made a place like that up in your head.
