Chicks on Bikes

Nola and Deena ride the modern version of a Big Wheel on the sunny side of Gates St. I savored the mother-daughter time...a too rare occurence in our hectic lives. Note Nola's "bad ass" look, which she seems to have mastered ever since she got stitches in her left cheek.

(Block) Party On

We pulled off the first annual Gates St. Block Party last Sunday. It was a beautiful way to spend 10/10/10. Highlights included a fire engine and police car for the kids, batting cage, face painting, food and wine, pies pies pies, grass fed hamburgers, Filipino food, everything you can imagine. The kids took over the streets with bikes, baseball, skateboards, chalk, and general merriment. Makes you think the key to world peace is to be neighborly. Brett organized the whole thing. Here's to next year...11/11/11?

Brought on the Noise!

Gates St. kiddie care was a success. Ben and Sarek built a train car while Leah and Nola chowed daintily on the apple bread and watched. Sparrow flew the coop and spent most of the time in the living room watching her house from our window :(( She's settling into the kiddie care concept, though, now that she's two.
