We pulled off the first annual Gates St. Block Party last Sunday. It was a beautiful way to spend 10/10/10. Highlights included a fire engine and police car for the kids, batting cage, face painting, food and wine, pies pies pies, grass fed hamburgers, Filipino food, everything you can imagine. The kids took over the streets with bikes, baseball, skateboards, chalk, and general merriment. Makes you think the key to world peace is to be neighborly. Brett organized the whole thing. Here's to next year...11/11/11?

Oedipal
Sarek seems to have embraced Freud as a 3 year old. It's been building, but tonight it came out like a gale force when he wanted me to put him to bed instead of Brett. He said, "Daddy doesn't love me. I love Mommy. But I don't love Daddy." Isn't that the Oedipal complex summed up in three painful sentences?
Possess Mommy. Eliminate Daddy.
We talked about it a bit and then the boys went in for bedtime. I am dying to hear how Brett handled their "talk."
Parenting can be so hard. Or, kids can be so brutal. Either way, it's painful tonight.
